The Chief Executive Officer, Abdullah Abdullah, said on Tuesday that women empowerment was a top priority for the National Unity Govement (NUG).
Talking at a gathering of USAID's Promote program on Tuesday, Abdullah reiterated the govement's support for all the women empowerment programs.
"I pledge that we will give priority to your demands in the council of ministers," said Abdullah.
Women's rights activists from around the country gathered in Kabul to explore ways to fight violence against women, to empower women, and to pave the ground for education of women.
"The first issue is the lack of accurate and real statistics regarding women's access to education, the second issue is early marriages, the third issue is insecurity and the fourth issue is lack of awareness regarding women's rights and their right to education based on law and Sharia," said Zala Ahmad, a women's rights activist.
Promote is one of the key projects of USAID, which is expected to spend $200 million USD annually to promote women.
"I hope that Promote would not be treated as a project and should not tu into something symbolic, but it should truly bring about change in people's lives from political and social points of view. Change in women's [life] is change in a family and change in the society of Afghanistan," said Sima Samar, the chairwoman of Afghanistan's Independent Human Rights Commission.
Michael McKinley, the US ambassador to Kabul, stressed that the plans discussed at the gathering should be implemented.
"If we can even begin to work on some of that in the coming months, we can start a very fundamental change and build in a very rapid manner on what we have achieved together already," he added.
