A number of analysts and members of the public said Monday they believe some senior officials in govement, including the first Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum, the Foreign Affairs Minister Salahuddin Rabbani and the President's Special Envoy for Reform and Good Goveance, Ahmad Zia Massoud, are too busy with other activities outside of their official functions – and not focusing on their main duties.
One military affairs commentator, Atiquallah Amarkhail, said that in a country like Afghanistan, which has a police force, an army and security forces, there is no need for officials in administrative positions to do conflict management on the battlefield.
"Everyone has his own duties and should do their own activities," said Amarkhail.
"When a cabinet minister comes and criticizes govement, it means that govement should review its plans and activities and it should find its weak points. Govement should not let anyone interfere in goveance," said Senator Nisar Haris.
A number of Kabul residents meanwhile said they are conceed about govement's future if the practice of senior officials visiting the frontline prevails.
"Our leaders have done the same thing throughout history. They have not recognized their positions and duties so far," said Nadir, a university student.
"These issues can increase the gap between govement and the people. It is better that govement's senior officials focus on their own responsibilities and duties," said Rahimullah Mansour, another student.
Commenting on these remarks, President Ashraf Ghani's deputy spokesman Shahussain Murtazawi, said: "Afghan govement has created a better situation in coordination, collaboration and war management, if compared to the past. Currently, only the relevant organizations shoulder the war leadership responsibility."
The remarks come after Dostum traveled to the northe provinces for the third time last month to clear areas of Taliban insurgents.
