Bereaved families of the victims of last week's attack on the VIP protection unit in Kabul said that those who are in prison for orchestrating terrorist attacks, should be punished.
Family members of Mohammad Husain Rahiq, 26, one of the victims of the incident, urged the National Unity Govement (NUG) to honor its pledge to punish militants.
"Our family wants criminals to be punished and investigated. Those who have helped them from inside the system should be prosecuted," said Fahim, Husain's brother.
"This incident should be investigated. It should be investigated as to how the incident took place. The investigations should be completed, so that we will know that we have a govement and will trust the govement," said Mohammad Nazir Rahiq, father of the victim.
Jawed is another victim of the incident. Jawad was a cadet who was receiving training at the unit's compound.
"He would come to me and would tell our office we will be attacked one of these days, so pray for me. I used to say go my son, may Allah protect you," said Jawed's father.
"I feel ashamed before Allah that I as a soldier cannot respond to my uncle's questions, because in the high ranks we don't have a minister of defense or a president to respond to my question," said Atiqullah Noori, Jawed's cousin.
"These people are the ones who can bring a change," said Jawed's uncle.
Civil society activists after meeting these families want to send a letter to leaders of govement and parliament to seek justice.
"Don't forget if some people are paying no attention to the blood of your martyrs, there are also people who stand beside and will remain beside you," said Bahar Mir, a civil society activist.
Last week's attack on the secret service unit left 64 people dead and 347 others wounded.
