The Afghan Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned Pakistan's Ambassador Abrar Hussain over the recent skirmish and shelling in Lalpor and Goshta districts in Nangarhar, which left one Afghan soldier dead and two others wounded.

Nangarhar provincial officials on Monday raised conces over Pakistan's cross-border shelling, which had been ongoing for two days.

"Pakistan's ambassador to Kabul, Abrar Hussain, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday and a formal protest was lodged over cross-border shelling by the Pakistani forces in Lalpor and Goshta districts of the Nangarhar province," the Afghan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Foreign Minister of Administrative Affairs Nasir Ahmad Andisha condemned the attacks and asked Pakistan to stop firing off missiles immediately, read the statement.

Security officials from the 201st Selab Military Corps said that Afghan security forces are waiting for central govement to give orders for them to respond to the missile attacks.

This latest round of attacks has reportedly led to the death of at least one Afghan soldier. Two others have been wounded.

Goshta borders with Pakistan and has reportedly come under missile attack by Pakistani forces on a number of occasions in the past.
