Presidential Palace said Friday 125 judges have been dismissed from their posts or have been appointed to other positions.
"The current plan has been presented to the President by the Supreme Court and involves the removal and replacement of 500 judges and the president has the authority to do this," said Deputy Spokesman for President Ashraf Ghani, Dawa Khan Menapal.
Meanwhile a European Union poll recognized Afghanistan's judicial system as the most corrupt sector of the Afghan govement.
On the basis of the poll 82 percent of respondents said that they have dealt with corruption in the judicial institutions while 18 percent of respondents said they did not face corruption.
Meanwhile 80 percent of respondents called impunity a big problem in the country.
"As long as the judiciary, administration of justice and investigation sectors are not cleared of corruption, the problem will continue in Afghanistan and no one can prevent it," said Ahmad Sayedi political analyst.
"One of the country's big challenges is impunity," said Rihana Azad a parliament member.
"With the appointment of the attoey general and chief justice we hope that positive changes will take place," said Safia Aimaq a parliament member.
The Idea come at a time that Afghanistan is ranked among the most corrupt countries in the world.
