At least 90 insurgents were killed in a military operation in northe Kunduz province in the past four days, local officials said.
In addition 120 others were injured.
The operation, in Dasht-e-Archi and Kunduz city, was launched to clear insurgents from a number of villages. Insurgents have been cleared but the operation is still ongoing, a military commander in Kunduz, Colonel Mangal Rahat said.
"It's a joint military operation and the security forces have made good achievements during the operation. The insurgents built strong bases which have been destroyed by security forces during the operation and they [insurgents] had major casualties," Rahat said.
He said that "we are waing the insurgents that the security forces are ready to eliminate them and after this they will face a massive response of the security forces," he said.
"The security forces are ready to fight until their last drop of blood," he added.
He said the forces also discovered weapons during the operation.
The operation was launched after insurgents recently increased their activity in some parts of Kunduz city and Dasht-e-Archi district of the province.
