Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani attended the meeting of OIC council of Foreign Ministers on Tuesday, in preparation for the 13th Summit of OIC member state heads in Istanbul.
While referring to the importance for Islamic Countries to fight terrorism and extremism, Rabbani spoke of the role of Afghanistan in fighting against this menace. He said: "Afghanistan, as prime victim of terrorism, stands in the frontline of the fight against terrorism and rendering an essential role to defeat this global menace in all its forms and manifestations."
Rabbani told attending foreign affairs ministers of Islamic countries that more than ever it is time to work together to fight "extremist narrative and prevent the distortion of our great religion – Islam; increase economic and social opportunities for our youth; and amplify the voices of peace and moderation".
Rabbani also spoke about Palestine, Yemen, tensions between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran and other important issues pertaining to the Islamic World, read a statement issued by the ministry of foreign affairs.
The Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States convened on Tuesday in Istanbul in preparation for the 13th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference (Session of Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace), being held in the Republic of Turkey from 10 – 15 April, 2016.
