Afghanistan Set To Launch 5th Annual RAPL Touament

The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF); Roshan, Afghanistan's leading total communications provider; and MOBY GROUP, Afghanistan's largest media conglomerate on Tuesday announced the launch of the fifth annual Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL) Green Field.

This marks the kick-off of RAPL regional touaments which will take place across eight regions of Afghanistan. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday April 8 in Kabul.

Organizers say they hope to improve on last year's success, which was tangibly felt throughout the country.

The 2015 RAPL season saw millions of Afghans cheer on young footballers from across the country as they competed for the prestigious RAPL trophy.

"Roshan has been a sponsor of RAPL since its inception and it's about giving Afghans an opportunity to show their skills, and shine on a national stage. But, more importantly, it is initiatives like this that will give Afghan youth, who form the majority of the population, an opportunity to compete on the global stage in major inteational touaments." said Altaf Ladak, COO of Roshan.

"AFF is extremely happy as the start of 5th annual RAPL season is upon us. We will make our best efforts to repeat the successful experience of the last four RAPL seasons.

One nation, one voice is the motto of RAPL and this league has made it possible to see its tangible effects on the ground. This league has shown to the world that football can have great impact and unite people.

"AFF in collaboration with MOBY Group and Roshan has successfully implemented the last four RAPL seasons. This year, we hope to have a more exciting and successful season," said Keramuddin Karim, President of AFF.

"The RAPL has become a symbol of hope for Afghanistan as it is the largest professional sporting event in the country every year. The young men and women of the RAPL inspire optimism in the current generation in Afghanistan," saidShafic Gawhari, CEO of MOBY Group Afghanistan and RAPL Commissioner.
