Two Policemen Killed in Balkh Clash

At least two policemen were killed in a clash with Taliban insurgents in northe Balkh province on Tuesday, local officials said.

In addition, three other policemen were injured.

The clash took place in Chaharbolak district of the province after Taliban insurgents moved in to destabilize the security of the Mazar-Sheberghan highway, said police official Gen. Abdul Razaq Qaderi.

Qaderi said that the Taliban also sustained numerous casualties in the clash and said that according to witnesses the insurgent group had transferred the bodies and injured to Jawzjan province.

He said that the Taliban has now fled to Faiz Abad district of Jawzjan and that security forces are following the insurgents.
