Football Team to Face Singapore in 2018 WC Qualifying Round

The National Football Team will take on Singapore on Tuesday afteoon in their last group stage match of the 2018 World Cup qualifying round in Iran.

The match will be hosted by Afghanistan at the Takhti Stadium in Tehran. The game kicks off at 3:00pm local time.

Afghanistan lost the first leg 1-0 to Singapore in October last year.

Afghanistan had good chances in the first leg but lost to Singapore who scored a goal 72 minutes into the game..

This was the first time the two teams had faced each other.

Last week, Afghanistan lost 5-0 to Japan in their 7th match of the touament. The match was hosted by Japan.

The team however faced to a tough match against Japan but played well in the first half which ended at 1-0 in Japan's favor.

But Japan started out incredibly strong in the second half and scored four more goals against Afghanistan.

Petar Segrt, the head coach of the team, has however dropped some players from the team due to injuries.

Today's match is key for the team because should Afghanistan beat Singapore; and Tajikistan and Myanmar lose their group stage matches, Afghanistan will go through to the qualifying round of the 2019 AFC Cup.
