Ghani's Top Aide Criticizes NUG For Not Fulfilling Promises

President Ashraf Ghani's military advisor Sayed Hussain Anwari has blasted govement leaders for not delivering on their campaign promises amid a surge in security threats and an economic downtu.

Anwari called on govement to respond to the people's call and to fulfill their promises made during the 2014 presidential elections.

The ongoing challenges and uncertainties have raised major conces among the people and the president and his CEO must act and rebuild the people's trust in govement, said Anwari.

Anwari, who also serves as chairman of Hizb-e-Harakat Islami Afghanistan (Afghanistan Islamic Movement party), retued to Kabul on Thursday after spending time in India for medical reasons. Hundreds of supporters and party members gathered at the airport to welcome him home.

Addressing his supporters on arrival in the country, Anwari said govement so far has failed to address issues of national interest such as security, peace, economic development and creating jobs to curb the flow of Afghan youths fleeing their country - issues many Afghans believe have gotten worse under the present administration.

He also blasted Afghanistan's inteational partners for not outlining an inclusive roadmap for the long-awaited peace talks.

"When it comes to campaign promises, I am sure that the two leaders (President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah) have realized the fact that they have not delivered on their promises. Nothing was achieved in the areas of security, economy, peace, fight against corruption and improving political stability," he said.

He urged the NUG leaders to take practical steps and abide by their commitments to improve the ongoing situation in the country.

"It would be better for our friends and political leaders to deliver on their pledges made to the people. Because current situations have disappointed the people across the country. Therefore govement must take steps and bring reforms," he added.

Referring to the recent political developments in the country, Anwari said that the newly formed political forces that chant slogans against the system will not benefit Afghanistan's national interests, suggesting that these parties should support the present system so that national issues can be resolved collectively.

"My message to these new political forces is to seek a way-out for the ongoing challenges facing this country. Today one front operates against another party, if they are committed to serving the country, then why do they not operate from a single platform," Anwari said.

Today's gathering was also addressed by a number of other political figures who supported the present govement during elections.

"I call on govement leaders not to underestimate Mujahedeen of this country, because the Mujahedeen have toppled even the super powers," said Qutbuddin Hilal, a former presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, a number of Anwari supporters also called on govement to meet their obligations.

"Govement has been relying only on verbal promises over the last year and nothing has been done on a practical basis, if the current situation continues, this will pose serious harm to our stability," said Kabul resident Zia Mosavi.

The statement comes a few weeks after Ghani's top advisor on reform and good goveance Ahmad Zia Massoud blasted NUG leaders over their performance while Anwarul-Haq Ahadi, former minister of finance and a key Ghani supporter, announced his opposition to the policies of the present govement.

In addition, recently formed Jihadi council (the Council for the Protection and Stablity of Afghanistan) has also said that they will act to protect the country if govement does not improve the situation.
