Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday said that lack of coordination between security forces and a lack of cooperation between people and the Afghan National Police force members is the main reason for the increase in insecurity in the country.
"People can say their pain to the security officials only when they [security officials] act based on the law. The security situation will improve if this happens," he said while addressing a gathering in Kabul.
He said the security agencies' officials should shoulder their responsibility in a better and more effective way and consider themselves as responsible to the people.
"A soldier screams and says they are under siege and they need help. If this issue does not awaken the Interior Minister, it will define that there is a gap and a problem in the way they [senior security officials] do their duty," Abdullah added.
Acting Interior Minister Abdul Rahman Rahman meanwhile said they have included the local police into their 10-year plan - in order to fill the gaps in Afghan Local Police (ALP) formation.
"The Ministry of Interior has included the ALP in its 10-year strategy aimed at increasing the capacity of police force members," he said.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Wolesi Jirga's (Lower House of Parliament) Inteal Security Commission, Mirdad Khan Nijrabi, said: "Public coordination with police is the only way that can help them [police force members] to ensure the country's security."
This comes after the U.S Inspector General For Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) reported about the existence of hundreds of ghost policemen in police ranks in the country.
