At least four insurgents were killed and seven others wounded in a clash with security forces in northe Baghlan province on Saturday, local officials said.

The clash took place after a group of insurgents attacked the Burka district and clashed with security forces, Provincial Police Chief Noor Habib Gulbahari said.

"One resident of Baghlan who was supporting the security forces in the clash against the Taliban was killed and another was wounded," Gulbahari said adding that insurgents then fled the area.

He also said that a number of security check posts have been created along the Kabul-Mazar highway.
