Samangan's Dara-e-Sof District Cleared Of Taliban

The Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives launched a joint military operation in Dara-e-Sof district in Samangan, where they cleared the area of Taliban, a press release issued by the Interior Ministry said Saturday.

Three key commanders of the Taliban, named Khairullah, Abdul Haq and Bakhtiyar, were arrested in this operation, the statement added.

According to the statement, the commanders were involved in many terrorist activities in the district and other areas of Samangan. After eliminating this group, the security situation is expected to improve in the district.

The Ministry of Interior said it appreciates the Afghan National Security Forces for eliminating the terrorists' sanctuaries and that the operation will help strengthen security and stability in Samangan.
