Bashir Ahmad Walizada is an Afghan National Policeman (ANP) who served his nation for years. He was paralyzed during service eight years ago when, on his way to Rashidan district of Maidan Wardak province, his vehicle hit a roadside mine.
Six of his colleagues were killed in the blast that left him severely wounded.
According to Walizada, no institutions or govement officials have offered him any help since the incident destroyed his life.
"I have six children and we live in a rented house. I have no-one except God. I ask the govement to hear my voice and rescue my children. Our lives are destroyed, my children have no future," Walizada said.
The Ministry of interior has admitted that not all victims of war have been provided with sufficient help.
"The soldiers are the pride of the country and their sacrifices deserve appreciation. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reach them to aid them with the necessary resources," said Sediq Sediqqi, spokesman to Ministry of Interior.
It is now the ninth year that Walizada has been lying at home on a bed. There are still signs of wounds allover his body.
He does not have enough money to pay for medical treatment. He is the breadwinner of a family of eight. The govement pays him only 5000 Afs which is not nearly enough.
Two other brothers of Walizada also served in the police force. One lost both hands a few months ago in Ghazni. Another one was killed in battle.
