Ghazni local officials said on Wednesday that 11 bus passengers, kidnapped on Saturday in Ghazni, were killed by the Taliban on Tuesday evening.
Officials said they were still trying to identify all those killed. However, reports have emerged that the victims were all Afghan National Security Force members.
The Provincial Goveor for Ghazni, Mohammad Aman Hamini would not confirm this but said the kidnapping took place on Saturday in the Andar district of the province.
"Last night 11 persons were killed by the oppressors in Kamal Khail area," said Hamini.
Insecurity along the highway has now however become a huge cause for conce among residents.
Meanwhile Ghazni representatives in parliament raised their conces over the security of Ghazni province.
"Unfortunately Ghazni is one of the insecure provinces and nowadays there are threats that terrorists want to conduct an aggressive attack on Ghazni city," said Mohammad Ali Akhlaqi Ghazni MP.
There has been a sharp rise in kidnappings in the country recently.
Last week, insurgents in Kunduz stopped a number of busses and kidnapped about 200 people. They immediately killed 10, and later beheaded another two. Most of the hostages were released but the fate of at least eight remains unclear.
