Zabihullah's Family Calls On Govt To Take Revenge On Taliban

Zabihullah Tamanna's family has called on govement to take revenge on the Taliban for their son's death.

Tamanna was killed on Sunday in a Taliban ambush in Helmand along with an American photojoualist David Gilkey. They had been driving in a military convoy when they came under attack.

Tamanna's oldest son Mustafa said on Tuesday he is devastated over the loss of his father.

"I don't want to cry in front of my mother and if I cry my mother will got mad. I need to console her," said Mustafa.

Zabihullah's body was brought back from Helmand and handed over to his family at a special ceremony.

Along with his family, Zabihullah's friends and fellow joualists attended his funeral on Tuesday.

"Today we lost another joualist and it is very painful but govement and the inteational institutions must pay attention to the safety of joualists," said Zabihullah's relatives.

Meanwhile iinstitutions protecting joualists said that Afghanistan is still an extremely dangerous country for joualists and that govement needs to step up efforts to protect them.

"The incident shows that Afghanistan is still a dangerous place for joualists and reporting is a very difficult task in Afghanistan," said Najib Sharifi, chairman of the Committee to Protect Joualists.

Zabihullah is the 10th media worker to die in terrorist attacks in less than six months in Afghanistan.
