Thousands of Kabul residents on Fridays visit the limited number of recreational places that the city has to offer.

Those who make their way to parks and other recreational areas in the city said despite living in a country where insecurity and war prevails, people still want to leave their homes for fun and entertainment.

Bebe Mahru is one recreational area where a large number of Kabul residents spend their day off and have fun.

On Friday, Jawed, a Kabul resident at Bebe Mahru, said: "I have come here with my friends for entertainment. As the spring season is close, we want to have fun." "I have come here to have fun and I also sell boiled eggs," said Omed.

Ahmad Zaed, who was playing carom with his friends, said that he wants to have fun on his day off.

"Here some people are flying kites, others are playing carom or other games. We want to make use of this day," he added. Sayed Ahmad, another youth, said that if there is peace in Afghanistan, then every coer of the country could be used.

"I also want to visit Helmand and other provinces to have fun and meet people," he added.

Peace and security has long been a dream of Afghanistan, however, insecurity, war and violence have not only killed the desire for entertainment among many people, but have also affected tourism in the country.
