7 Civilians Killed In IED Blast In Helmand

At least seven civilians died on Saturday afternoon when the rickshaw they were traveling in hit a roadside mine in Helmand province, local officials said.

According to officials the blast occurred in Bolan area of Lashkargah city.

Four children, two women and a man were among the victims, officials said.

They were all members of one family.

No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast as yet.

Insurgents frequently place roadside mines to target local security forces but most of the victims are civilians.
