Afghan athlete, Kimia Yusufi, is all set to compete against at the Rio Olympics' women's 100 meters race on Friday evening.

Yusufi said she realizes the fact that winning a medal at the Olympic Games is not an easy task, but she is prepared to compete in the race, representing Afghanistan.

"I hope that I gain success at the event as I am representing the 30 million population of my country," she said.

She qualified for the Olympic Games a few months ago by running the 200 meters in 20.30 seconds.

Yusufi has run for Afghanistan at two international track events – one in Iran in the Fajr Cup and another at the South Asian Games in India.

She mentioned that she learned the basics of running from her coach Prima Ahmadi, an Afghan athlete that lives in Iran.

"We are representing Afghanistan but we lack a number of essential and required facilities in this trip," Yusufi said as she criticized government for not paying the required attention to the athletes.

According to officials, the match will start at 7.30pm local time.
